You know...I knew this site was working entirely too well. So this weekend, the server on which my site is hosted fried a hard drive. The technical support site kept saying there was an expected down time of three hours. After the down time of the web server stretched into three days...and the down time of my access to my files stretched into five...I was thoroughly grouchy. But it looks like they had good backup. All my files are where they were and I don't have to recreate anything...so I'm thankful for that anyway (since I obviously can't be thankful about their repair speed).
So here I am back in business. The Photo of the Day will be bringing the images at the previous pace...daily. And I'll have updates here as appropriate.
Thanks for visiting...and see you again soon.

Well, the title pretty much says it all for how I'm feeling today. For me "today" still means "Saturday" since I haven't gone to bed yet. It's been a beautiful day outside in the high 70s and low 80s. The sun was shining. The sky was fairly cloudless. All that was wonderful, but was only a side thought to my real joy.
My new Nikon CoolPix 4500 digital camera finally arrived yesterday afternoon. Thus, my month of camera-less-ness since my CoolPix 990 died has finally come to an end. I ended up buying the camera at a place called World Wide Direct. Since the camera was out of stock pretty much every other place I called...and their price was so much cheaper than anyone else's...I was sure it must be a scam. But I took the risk and bought the camera there anyway. What can I say? They not only had it in stock...but after paying for the slow 10-business-day FedEx ground shipping...I got the camera in less than 3 days. I think I could safely recommend these guys to anyone. With the mail-in Nikon rebate, I got a camera that normally retails for about $700 for under $400.
So more than the weather today, the fun of getting to go out and play with my new camera in the weather is what has made this a very pleasing day.
