Smiley cap

image of a broken hub cap that looks like a cartoon face

I looked down the other day right when I got off the bus coming home. And right there on the ground was this "cute" little piece of hub cap. Yeah, it's a piece of trash, but it looked so much like a little cartoon face that I couldn't just leave it there. I hope you find it as amusing as I have.

In all things give thanks

image of a seed pod on ice/snow

I took a stroll through Thanksgiving Square in downtown Dallas today. Despite the cold and ice, it was nice to be reminded of the encouragement of the apostle Paul to the Ephesians to be always giving thanks to God for everything. In the cold comes the death of the leaves and the fruit, sending the seeds, like this seed pod, to the ground...leading to more life. Even the cold, uncomfortable weather gives way to more blessing.

A little Screwy

image of small screw

I just like the simplicity of the screw on the white background. I put this one on my desktop background. And besides, where else on the 'net can you find a screw picture that you can show to your parents or your children?

Memory deficiency

image of an 8MB SIMM

I was looking through one of my desk drawers at work today and came across this SIMM from a few years ago. It's amazing just how fast so much becomes...so little.

Streaming image

image of a tree across a stream

I was out for a Sunday drive yesterday and came across this scene. It's not extremely special, but living in the big city, sometimes it's nice to remember that not every stream on earth is covered by a concrete overpass.

Apple of my eye

close-up image of Melissa's eye

Eyes have always been a fascinating thing to me...reflecting so many things...and at the same time absorbing just as much. Telling you all about the owner of the eye...while telling them all about you. The "window of the soul" is an accurate description. Not a one-way window, but one where someone curiously stares out at you...as you gaze in at them.

This beautiful eye belongs to my older daughter.

Stop it

image of a metal and rubber door stop

I don't know why, but I love close up shots. It gives you a new perspective on almost anything. I was just messing around a couple of days ago and decided to take some pics of this door stop in my office at work. The detail and color of the carpet and the reflections in the steel made this everyday object just seem kind of cool to me.

Hanging on to Its Color

image of a red and green leaf on red and gray lava rocks

This leaf caught my eye as I was walking by the flower beds of the Dallas Public Library today. All around the area were other leaves... brown and withered. But this leaf was hanging on for dear life to what color it had... even to the point that it almost seemed to be pulling more color from the red in the rocks on which it lay.
