April 30, 2003Tunnel VisionHanging out in the middle of space between two of the buildings the company I work for owns is a bridge. After hours when the front doors are locked, this is the only way to get between the buildings. The only connection. Just a little bit of steel...a little bit of plexiglass. Strangely enough, looking at the bridge this way, you're looking from floor 15 of one buildiing up to floor 12 of the other building. It's kind of funny to think about. -Tony (Eravau) Camera: Nikon CoolPix 4500 Location: Work in Downtown Dallas, Texas USA

April 29, 2003Wired for SoundThis may not be what they mean when they say "wired for sound"...but if you really want to be wired for sound...at least with professional microphones...you'll probalby have a few of these puppies hanging around on the ends of various cables. -Tony (Eravau) Camera: Nikon CoolPix 4500 Location: Iglesia Luz y Vida in Dallas, Texas USA

April 27, 2003Because He Wanted To See A ButterrFlyWhile strolling around Scarborough Faire today, we came across their butterfly exhibit. There were tons of beautiful flowers and butterfiles all around in there and here is one of them that I captured. Enjoy. -Tony (Eravau) Camera: Nikon coolPix 4500 Location: Scarborough Faire in Waxahachie, Texas

April 26, 2003Hot StuffIt was the strangest thing today. I was downtown walking to Starbucks after eating lunch and I passed a pepper sitting there on the sidewalk. Since it was so bright, it really caught my attention. And I thought, "That's strange to leave a pepper sitting in the middle of the sidewalk." Imagine my surprise when about two minutes further along the walk I saw another one. Again, the bright, vivid color caught my eye. I figured they must really be trying to get my attention if they were just going to be everywhere. So I picked this one up and took it back to the office with me. It was a very good subject. It laid and sat in various strange poses with nary a complaint or questioning glance. Overall, it's been one of the best models I've worked with. -Tony (Eravau) Camera: Nikon CoolPix 4500 Location: Downtown Dallas, Texas USA

April 25, 2003Waving without GreetingThese are the flags that wave here in the state where "everything is bigger". This particular pair was waving in front of my daughter's school. -Tony (Eravau) Camera: Nikon CoolPix 4500 Location: Dallas, Texas USA

April 24, 2003Gerber...Non-Baby FoodSpring is definately on us here in Dallas. This beautiful flower shows that. I found this while wandering around downtown the other day. My good friend, Bow, tells me this is a gerber daisy. I'll take her word for it since she's a much better plant taxonomist than I am. By the way, sorry about the 5 days with no photos. My web provider lost a hard drive this weekend and their "3 hours" to get it fixed again turned into 3 times somewhere around 36. And then they forgot to give me back my correct access once they did get the server working again. Anyway, I'm back in business and there will be a photo a day once again. Thanks for visiting...and I hope to see you again tomorrow. -Tony (Eravau) Camera: Nikon CoolPix 4500 Location: Downtown Dallas, Texas USA

April 19, 2003EncRoaching on His TerritoryWith as many of these things as there are in Dallas, it's surprising I didn't get a photo of one a little sooner. Assuming this really is a cockroach, and not just one of the multitudes of types of beetles, it lis probably a Periplaneta americana. Whatever it is, there are way too many cockroaches and cockroach-like things here in Dallas. -Tony (Eravau) Camera: Nikon CoolPix 4500 Location: Iglesia Luz y Vida in Dallas, Texas

April 17, 2003Purple Robed with a Golden Heart
On Saturday, when I was walking around Samuell Park with my daughters, we sat down to rest. And right next to where we sat were these tiny flowers (Identified as blue-eyed grass flowers - Thanks, Bow!). They weren't even an inch across, but yet they were just as beautiful as any large flower in the park. I photographed many flowers that afternoon, but none of them came out looking as nice as these little ones with all their beauty packed into a tiny space.

April 16, 2003Bumpy BuckEver since elementary school, I've always found this upper-right hand corner of the front of the dollar bill the most insteresting. Why is that? Well look up at the decorative shield-looking thing that surrounds the 1. In the dip of the upper-left hand corner of that shield, is what looks like a little spider. Look closely. You may not be able to see it very well in this picture...but pull out your own dollar and you'll see what I mean. All I can think is that some artist at the treasury must have had a sense of humor. And to think, all these years we've been using buggy money. -Tony (Eravau) Camera: Nikon CoolPix 4500 Location: My office in Dallas, Texas Notes: I did a little bit of Photoshop work on this image to give it the texture and raised look it has. I also added the gold-tinted lighting. It was actually taken under flourescent office lights.

April 15, 2003Would you like fries with that?I was sitting there at McDonald's with my kids. While they were running around up and down and through the tunnels and slides, I decided to snap a couple of photos just for the fun of it...and this is what came of it. -Tony (Eravau) Camera: Nikon CoolPix 4500 Location: McDonald's on the east side of Dallas, Texas

April 14, 2003A Real LadyI know it's dangerous for a lady to be out alone at night...but this lady seemed nervous being out durying the day. She'd hardly hold still for long enough to focus the camera. Maybe she's just shy. But here she is. And a finely dressed lady she is. The lady bug, scientifically named Coccinela novemnotata according to this page, is one of many kinds of beetles. I hope you enjoy this image...and I'll have another image up for you tomorrow. -Tony (Eravau) Camera: Nikon CoolPix 4500 Location: Iglesia Luz y Vida in Dallas, Texas

April 13, 2003A Big Stink About NothingOn day two with my Nikon CoolPix 4500 I went for a walk in the park...Samuell Park on the east side of Dallas. While there, walking through the iris garden, I came across a brown stink bug (euschistus servus, according to this page). I continue to be amazed and very happy with the macro ability of this camera's lens. -Tony (Eravau) Camera: Nikon CoolPix 4500 Location: The iris garden in Samuel Park on the east side of Dallas, Texas

April 12, 2003Peter Parker incognito? My new Nikon CoolPix 4500 arrived via FedEx today and I had to get out and use it. I went out with it for the block walk over to Starbucks for my afternoon fix. After I got my lattee, I walked out the door and there on the Dallas Observer news stand was this cute (?) little fellow. According to this page that a friend pointed me at (Thanks, Tommy!), it looks like it's probably a foliage-dwelling jumping spider of some sort. Despite the size of this picture, he's really only about 1/8 inch tall. So despite his fierce demeanor...there really isn't a whol lot of him to worry about. -Tony (Eravau) Camera: Nikon CoolPix 4500 Location: On an Observer news stand in downtown Dallas, Texas

April 05, 2003Spiny whateverSome things that look absolutely beautiful from a distance look completely weird and slightly freaky from way up close. Take for example this seed pod. It looks absolutely beautiful in this image, but is...shall we say...not so beautiful...in this one. None the less, it's very cool to see the great amount of detail (albeit freaky detail) and texture that makes up what is nothing more than a container for the more important part...the seeds. -Tony (Eravau) Camera: Nikon CoolPix 990 Location: Thanksgiving Square in downtown Dallas, Texas
