May 31, 2003Natural Stained GlassSitting at the bottom of the fountain in the convention center were several of these spotlights. (Yes, this is the third day in a row I've posted a photo of some kind of light.) I thought it rather interesting how much they look like some sort of mother nature-made stained glass. "And every one's an original." = ) -Tony (Eravau) Camera: Nikon CoolPix 4500 Location: Convention center in Rosemont, Illinois USA

May 30, 2003Throwing a Little Light on ThingsAfter the keynote for the MacDesign Conference Wednesday night, we headed for the club/bar in the hotel where we were staying for a conference-sponsored party. We sat and talked and listened to the music for four hours by candlelight (and the low-level lights overhead). It was the most fun I've had in awhile. -Tony (Eravau) Camera: Nikon CoolPix 4500 Location: O'Hare International Holiday Inn in Rosemont, Illinois USA

May 29, 2003Crystal ClearIn the convention center (where I am attending a design conference for a couple of days) hangs this beautiful chandalier. The beauty and symmetry just caught my eye. So I thought I would bring a little...or not so little...light to your life today. ; ) -Tony (Eravau) Camera: Nikon CoolPix 4500 Location: Rosemont, Illinois USA

May 28, 2003Golden OrangeYep...I raided the fridge again. I've been eating a lot of cold fruits and veggies lately with the temperature hovering around 80. Cold and sweet is a nice thing in this weather. I'm definately not looking forward to when it becomes "summer" here. Maybe we'll get lucky and it'll stay below 100 degrees most of the summer like it did last year...not that the 90s are chilly or anything. But for now, I'll enjoy the fact that the air conditioner seems to be able to keep up for the most part...and I'll do my part by eating the cold stuff. -Tony (Eravau) Camer: Nikon CoolPix 4500 Location: My Apartment in Dallas, Texas USA

May 27, 2003You're Fired!Summer is here. Well, officially it's still spring...but when it's around 80 or 90 degrees all the time...for all practical purposes it's summer (at least if I wasn't in Dallas where "summer" means 90-100 degrees). And with summer comes more and more grilling. Sunday we grilled at church for lunch. Then for supper, we came home and grilled some more. Mmmm...there's nothing quite like the taste of food cooked over a flame. -Tony (Eravau) Camera: Nikon CoolPix 4500 Location: My Back Yard at my Apartment in Dallas, Texas USA

May 26, 2003A Real Turn-OnI went wandering around outside the apartments today and came across this faucet and its knob today. I hadn't noticed it before. It was kind of nestled between a couple of bushes along the back fence rather inconspicuously. It reminds me of when I was a kid, though. We'd hook up the garden hose to the faucet and spray each other all summer long...or hook up the sprinkler to the hose and run through that. Nowadays, though, it seems all the kids have to have a full-fledged pool to have any water fun. So much for simplicity. -Tony (Eravau) Camera: Nikon CoolPix 4500 Location: Behind my Apartment in Dallas, Texas USA

May 25, 2003Bloodless RedToday I have another strange-looking image. If you look at it a minute you can probably figure out what it is...even though you may not normally look at it from this angle. It's just a tomato...from a little bit closer than you usually look at it. There's so much to miss when you don't observe closely? -Tony (Eravau) Camera: Nikon CoolPix 4500 Location: In My Apartment in Dallas, Texas USA

May 24, 2003Into The Dragon's MouthLet's play Guess What Today's Image Is. I know it looks like a giant Photoshop playground, but it's not (although I create plenty of those for other stuff). It's a real photo. This was something that I've seen a hundred times, but never noticed how much it looks like dragon scales and smoke until I took this photo. This one is definately going to be my desktop picture for a little while. Let me make you all a deal. I will mail a 5"x7" print of your choice of one of my photos of the day to the first person to guess what this is. You have a week. If nobody gets it by the end of this month (May 2003), then I guess there will be no free print. Click here to e-mail me your guess. Good luck figuring it out. By the way, if anyone wants to buy a print, let me know. Thanks for stopping by my page. Good luck guessing. And see you all tomorrow. Well, nobody guessed what it was before the deadline...but there was a correct guess about 15 minutes late. (Sorry, Bow.) The answer is that it's the inside of a green bell pepper. Kinda cool the way it looks from that angle isn't it? Thanks for you guys that guessed. -Tony (Eravau) Camera: Nikon CoolPix 4500 Location: My Apartment in Dallas, Texas USA

May 23, 2003Bye Bye, DoctorYep...it's another fruit. Hey...I thought...I have a good thing going here. I'm on a roll of sorts...which is easy since so many fruits are kinda round in shape. I hope you are enjoying my phruity fotos. See you tomorrow. -Tony (Eravau) Camera: Nikon CoolPix 4500 Location: In My Apartment in Dallas, Texas USA

May 22, 2003Grape Is My LonelinessI guess I'm just on a roll with the fruit. Yesterday watermelon...today a grape. I've just been in the mood for cold, sweet and juicy. And although this grape was pretty lonely there by itself, I soon alleviated that loneliness as it joined some of its siblings in my belly. Thank you for stopping by. And see you tomorrow for another photo. -Tony (Eravau) Camera: Nikon CoolPix 4500 Location: My Apartment in Dallas, Texas USA

May 21, 2003Mouth Watering GoodWell, it's that time of year. The time when the sun feels hotter and the air conditioners pop on...24/7. It was 81 degrees Monday night at midnight. And with that kind of heat, something to quench the constant thirst is a must. So we bought some watermelon. Mmmm...nice to have something sweet and wet to kill the thirst. -Tony (Eravau) Camera: Nikon CoolPix 4500 Location: My Apartment in Dallas, Texas USA

May 19, 2003I Spider TodayAll around you are many things living out their lives without ever being noticed. They're so small and insignificant that we just ignore them. This little spider, for instance, has probably been living in that corner of my bathroom for months and months...and yet I never noticed it until today. It's amazing how many new things you can see if you just look. -Tony (Eravau) Camera: Nikon CoolPix 4500 Location: My Bathroom in my Apartment in Dallas, Texas USA

May 18, 2003Textured TwentyOh every time I need some cash I go out to the banker's stash The teller is computerized And reads my card that's digitized I type the numbers that it asks Before it starts in on its task Of giving me that which is mine That it has stored for just this time And then my need the teller fills By spitting out one of these bills -Tony (Eravau) Camera: Nikon CoolPix 4500 Location: My Apartment in Dallas, Texas USA

May 16, 2003UnclosedI got to lunch really late today (about 3:00 pm.) and almost every place I normally eat lunch was closed already. So this sign was a very welcome sight for my eyes. -Tony (Eravau) Camera: Nikon CoolPix 4500 Location: Downtown Dallas, Texas USA (on a Schlotsky's)

May 13, 2003BrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrAnd here we have the clingy personality of the plant and weed world. Although it could do something in life on its own, it feels the need to cling to others and ride along on their adventures instead. May 12, 2003Two of a KindI grabbed this photo on Saturday specifically for a Mother's Day card I made for my daughters to color all over and give to my wife...with the phrase "Happy Mother's Day...from your two little flowers". I think it went over pretty well. I hope all you mothers and children of mothers had a good Mother's Day yesterday...and have a good day today as well. -Tony (Eravau) Camera: Nikon CoolPix 4500 Location: Near my Apartment in Dallas, Texas USA

May 11, 2003Prickly PurpleAaah the joys of this beautiful flower. Its purple prettiness draws you close in curiosity...but its visions of violet...hide a slightly less sightly side. For when you draw near to touch its silky softness...you discover instead of an invitation...a pack of prickly purple. I'm not sure exactly what kind of flower it is, but I believe it is a type of thistle. Whatever it is, enjoy it. And see you all tomorrow. -Tony (Eravau) Camera: Nikon CoolPix 4500 Location: Near my Apartment in Dallas, Texas USA

May 10, 2003Sweet CirclesThey sure are bright, colorful and pretty for little round pieces of sugar. And that's all they are. The number one ingredient is sugar. The number two ingredient is corn syrup. the number three ingredient is high fructose corn syrup. Let's see...that's sugar, sugar and sugar for the top three ingredients. All that before you even hit the artificial colors and flavors. But they sure are pretty. = ) -Tony (Eravau) Camera: Nikon CoolPix 4500 Location: My Office at Work in Downtown Dallas, Texas USA Notes: Thanks, Jackie, for the...um...subjects

May 07, 2003Wheelie'Round and 'round it goes...where it stops...nobody knows. Ok...so it's not going 'round and 'round...and if it was, I probably wouldn't have been standing there. Since this knob/wheel was attached to the valve to which a fire hose is meant to be attached...if this thing had been going 'round and 'round...I probably would have been running for my life down the stairs in which it resides. And being sixteen stories from the ground...that would have been a lot of running. -Tony (Eravau) Camera: Nikon CoolPix 4500 Location: In the Stairwell of the Building in which I Work in Dallas, Texas USA

May 06, 2003Behold The Power OfI continue to love taking close-up photos most of all. Everything looks so much different when you get up close to it and see all the detail that makes it up. You never really understand something 'til you get up close and see what all is there. Kinda like people, really. -Tony (Eravau) Camera: Nikon CoolPix 4500 Location: Dallas, Texas USA

May 05, 2003Ease On Down The RoadAbout a mile from home is this railroad and bridge. It's not one of the best looking places on earth, but compared to what's right next to it, it's beautiful. To either side of this beautiful wooded natural area around the sides of the track are about ten liquor stores, a half a dozen bars, a "gentlemen's club", four cheap ($20/night) motels...and more undesirables than you can shake a stick at...some even living in this small amount of wooded space. Needless to say, I was a little nervous going here to take a photo...but I had passed by it from afar many times and wanted to get a photo of it...so here you have it. -Tony (Eravau) Camera: Nikon CoolPix 4500 Location: Dallas, Texas USA

May 04, 2003Ring-a-LingOn Sundays, I head to church for Sunday School and then for service. To mark the end of the Sunday School classes and time to move into the sanctuary for service, the Sunday School Superintendent will sometimes ring this bell. I don't know much about this bell except that it just seems to fit in a church very well. -Tony (Eravau) Camera: Nikon CoolPix 4500 Location: Iglesia Luz y Vida in Dallas, Texas USA

May 03, 2003Down the DrainYou know how some of the most ugly things (or people) can be beautiful inside? And some of the most beautiful things (or people for that matter) can be ugly inside? Well...this is the drain from example number two, The brass and steel water fountain of which this is a part, is rather attractive...but the water that comes out of it tastes like dirt and rust. Yet another one of those "Don't judge a book by its cover" sort of things. -Tony (Eravau) Camera: Nikon CoolPix 4500 Location: Work in Downtown Dallas, Texas USA

May 02, 2003Yellow Rose of TexasOh...there's a yellow rose in Texas...that I am going to see... No...but seriously...one of the neighbor kids ripped this beautiful flower off of the bush in front of our apartments and stuck it in our mailbox. I took it in and thought I would at least keep its memory around through this photo. -Tony (Eravau) Camera: Nikon CoolPix 4500 Location: Home in Dallas, Texas USA

May 01, 2003Red Alert!Having been through several fire drills and real alarms (that turned out to be minor in the end) over the past few years that I've worked on the 16th floor of my building, I've come to appreciate the pain and suffering this little device can cause with or without a fire. The bight, flashing strobe light it produces is enough to blind most insects, animals and humans within a half mile radius. And just in case you thought you'd find your way out of the fire with your sense of hearing instead (since this thing had blinded you), it emits a sweeping sine wave that covers all human tone perception ranges at full volume...making sure that you can't hear any sound at any wavelength by the time it's done. This thing is a technological wonder. You will undoubtedly know there is a fire when this thing goes off...but you won't under any circumstances have enough wits left about you to escape it. -Tony (Eravau) Camera: Nikon CoolPix 4500 Location: Work in Downtown Dallas, Texas USA
