Mmm

A couple of nights ago, the chocolate craving set in. And these little bites fit the bill.

Phoney Photo

close-up (macro) image of an RJ-11 (phone) connector plug

As a telco employee, it's surprising that I don't have more telecommunications-related photos in my repertoire. I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that after seeing telecom things all day, I'm not much in the mood to seem them on my off hours.

See you for another photo tomorrow.

Two Bits

close-up (macro) image of a Jefferson on a two dollar bill

I think Jeffferson got the short end of the stick. Here he gets his face on a bill...and it's the least seen bill of all (well, for $100 and under anyway). At least he's still remembered for his term of presidency.

Get The Point?

close-up (macro) image of a damascus steel blade

From up close, this looks an awful lot like wood grain...but it's beautiful damascus steel. And despite its beauty, damascus steel is also very strong steel. It's more than just a pretty face. This is nice lookin', edge holdin' beauty.

Great Body, but That Face

close-up (macro) image of a butterfly's face

You know that person you walk up behind and thing, "Wow! They have a nice body!" Then they turn around and you see the face. Ack! How could that ugly face end up there?

This is that person in the insect world. Butterflies have the most beautiful coloring and look so pretty...'til they turn around and you see this face. Kinda takes some of the beauty out of butterflies doesn't it?

Tender Lovin' Care

close-up (macro) image of the business end of a meat tenderizer

Love me tender...
Ok..maybe not much lovin'...but this meat tenderizer would help make you love your (tender) meal more than a tough steak.

Hope you're having a great weekend. See you tomorrow.

A Close Shave

Scraping away
The little hairs
With blades so sharp and tiny
It makes the skin
So soft and smooth
As any baby's hiney

Starry Eyed

image of the starry sky through the trees and over the roofs

This photo, although having less contrast than most of my photos, is one of my favorite because I can see the stars. It's one of the reasons I like being out of the big city. There's not so much light pollution out here that it blocks all of the stars.

By the way, the brightest dot is Mars.

Well Trained

image of a train bridge

About three quarters of a block from my house is a train track...about a block down the track is this bridge. Unlike my photo of the bridge in Dallas...this one really is pretty much in the middle of nowhere. And the direction the tracks are going in this photo...is just deeper into nowhere. It's a nice place to be.

Smile and Say Cheese

close-up (macro) image of a strange insect

Earlier this week, this little critter was in our house...and was taken out to our front porch. Besides his beautiful color, he seems to have a smirky little smile on his face that I really like.

In The Pokey

Around our side door are a few of these cacti. My wife, unfortunately, ended up with a few needles in her fingers and toes the other day when she tried to move part of one out of the way. Ooops.

Big Buddy

close-up (macro) image of white flower at my home

There are several plants around my new house. Some are rather plain. Some are rather pretty, like this one. There are a few different flowers hanging around the side of the house. This one was one of them. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

With Gold Trim

close-up (macro) image of moth on some brick

I'm sorry that over a week and a half has passed since my last photo of the day. It's been the most hectic week and a half of my life. After living 9 and a half years in Dallas, my family and I packed it all up and moved to a small suburb outside of Saint Louis, Missouri.

The packing, moving and unpacking itself would have been hectic enough. But we also finally bought our own house. Let me tell you, going through the paperwork for that was enough to keep me from wanting to move again anytime soon.

So anyway...from here on out, the majority of my photos will be from here in Missouri instead of Texas.

This first photo from my new home is a little moth (about 1" long) that was sitting on the back of my house on the brick. I love his black and gold color.

Now that life seems to be settling down a little again, the Photo of the Day is back on track. Thanks for stopping by my page. And see you tomorrow.
